Which is the best science: physics, chem, or bio?

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Dear reader,

I’m going to start off and be biased. Physics is definitely the best science. It’s a subject that deals with the purest and most fundamental concepts of the universe. It helps us organize our way of thinking about the world and understand why things are the way they are. Also, if you answer this question from a slightly flawed logical argument (which I admit I do), Physics is undoubtedly the best science, because without it, the other sciences wouldn’t exist.

Think about it like this. Quantum mechanics (a theory that provides a description of the properties of nature at an atomic level) and Newtonian physics (the description of mechanical events using the laws of motion) basically covers all the concepts of Chemistry. All biological processes are basically explained by chemical reactions. Following this argument, the above claim would be true.

But since this question seems to look for an unbiased, fact-based answer, here is a little overview of what I have to say about each science (physics excluded, as it’s already mentioned above).

Chemistry: Chemistry, sometimes known as the “central science”, could be seen as the best science simply because it is EVERYWHERE. It touches on every aspect of our life, from medicine to food to clothing to energy, etc. It helps us meet our basic necessities. I guess you could argue that without Chemistry, the human race would die off and this question would no longer exist... So maybe, Chemistry is truly the best science. But then again, the Geocentric model (the theory that Earth is the center of the universe) has already been proved false, so us humans definitely aren’t as important as we’d like to think.

Biology: Biology, the scientific study of life. It gives you information about how non-living or/and living organisms interact with each other. Biology may be the best science because not only does it predate other sciences, its most important field of study is us (humans). Our past, present, and future, all rely on Biology. Want to learn how to extend the human life span? Study Biology. What to know the genetic makeup of earthworms? Study Biology. While studying organism interactions may excite some people, just remember that not all living (or non-living for that matter) things are as interesting as they seem to be.

(Just from this, you may be able to tell that Biology is my least favorite science)

Use this information wisely and take away from it what you will. But know that the most important (and perhaps only) point you need to remember from this long response is that...Physics is the best science.

Sincerely,

Dear Letterbox
