Dear user,
I’m assuming you are talking about real football. (Not American football) There are many things to consider when you claim it the best. Let’s break down the pros and cons of football.
Pros:
Football matches are usually 90 minutes long, which means you can enjoy it longer than any other sport in the world.
It’s very cheap to play. All you need is a ball and two objects that can create a goal.
It requires teamwork and communication skills which are helpful in any situation.
It brings people together. It even stopped a civil war once when the Ivory Coast qualified for the world cup. The Ivory coast team begged the people to stop the war for once and cheer for a common goal. After their please, people dropped their weapons and came together.
Football has 18 positions, which means there’s a higher chance of finding a position you are good at.
It is the most famous sport with an estimated 4 billion fans. (Worldatlas)
Football youth training systems are very developed worldwide.
Cons:
It’s 90 minutes long, which means the match can be incredibly boring.
It requires a lot of players to play.
It might be costly if you play seriously. (Cleats, balls, socks, shin pads, etc.)
Compared to other sports like basketball, there are much fewer goals meaning less action.
Honestly, it all comes down to each person’s preference. Some people love football for the tiki-takas or beautiful counterattacks. Some people might enjoy basketball for their crazy dunks and fast gameplay, and some might enjoy baseball for home runs or beautiful hits. Therefore, it is correct to say that football is the most popular sport globally but not the best. No one can define what is best for other people.
Sincerely,
Dear Letterbox
