Does the coronavirus virus work?

Hello!

Unfortunately, the coronavirus virus does work. I would say that the coronavirus is doing their job extremely efficiently, in fact: did you know that as of 06 January 2022, the coronavirus has infected 295 million people, and counting! There are many types of virus in the world, but the jobs of the viruses specifically harmful to humans are supposed to cause diseases in people, so I would definitely agree that the virus is doing its job.

Hopefully, I'm assuming you meant to type vaccine instead of virus because I don't believe anyone genuinely wants the virus to work. As someone who has gotten the COVID-19 vaccine and desperately wishes for 'things to return to normal', I would say that the vaccine does work, and I strongly urge anyone who can do so to get the vaccine. However, some might claim that the vaccine is redundant; people who have gotten the vaccine are still contracting COVID-19, so what's the point?

While it is true that vaccinated people are still contracting COVID-19, the vaccine does make the symptoms mild compared to the symptoms unvaccinated people get: "Even though the vaccines won't always keep you from catching COVID, they will make it much more likely you stay alive and out of the hospital." (KXLY). Also, Dr Jeffery Jahre of St. Luke's University Health Network states that the point of the vaccine is to "keep one away from the most serious consequences of getting the disease, [such as] very severe hospitalization [...], intensive care unit and also tragically, death." (WNEP). In addition, not only does the vaccine assist in lowering your chances of catching COVID, it also helps in protecting the community as a whole!

To conclude, although there is a slight chance of catching COVID-19 despite being vaccinate, getting the vaccine does help reduce your chances of dying, and protects you and others as well! Stay safe and take care!

Best regards,
