I think my best friend is acting weird, what should I do.

Dear client whose best friend is acting weird,

Before giving you some tips on what you should do, I came up with some possibilities as to why they are acting weird:

  • They don’t want to be friends with you anymore.

If a friend is acting weird, they might have become best friends with someone else that isn’t you. The reason they act weird is because they no longer feel comfortable around you, and they really want to escape you because hanging out with you isn’t as fun as when you were actually best friends.

  • They are feeling stressed.

Your friend might be under humongous loads of stress sometimes, whether it is schoolwork or family struggles at home. They might have had some bad experiences but are unwilling to show that they’ve been significantly affected by them in front of you, even if you’re able to tell regardless.

  • They are afraid to be your friend.

Who knows, maybe at some point in your relationship, your friend began to think you’ve become too cool for them. If you are suddenly surrounded by people or other friends that your best friend doesn’t know or recognize, they will feel really uncomfortable. Trust me, I’ve been through this too.

These are only a few possibilities, but your friend may be acting weird only because they want to. If you really don’t know why they are acting weird, just ask them, whether it’s through a text, an email, or even a face-to-face conversation.

In summary, just talk to them and understand why they’re being weird. If they are doing it on purpose, maybe they aren’t your best friend, and you can move on.

Sincerely,

Dear Letterbox
